Amazon Prime Video launched in India
Amazon India has launched its Prime Video service in India and will be available to all Amazon Prime members at no extra charge. The Prime Video apps is available on both Android and iOS, and if you are a subscriber to Amazon Prime, you can immediately start using the app.
Amazon Prime Video will give its users to access the newly releases, Hollywood movies, Bollywood blockbusters, TV shows, Amazon original series and kids’ programming. Amazon India has officially confirmed tie-ups with the likes of Dharma Productions – owned by director and producer Karan Johar – T-Series, as well as Arka Mediaworks’ SS Rajamouli for Prime Video. partnership with Japan’s TV Asahi Corporation for popular shows such as Doraemon, Shinchan, and Ninja Hattori. Deals have also been signed with Green Gold Animation which makes kids shows such as Super Bheem, Chota Bheem and Mighty Raju.
Users will be able to set up Prime Video on multiple devices that they own, and will be able to watch the content on their laptops, smart TV, gaming consoles or desktops as they like.
Amazon Prime Video service will be competing directly against Netflix, which had started its operations earlier this year. Amazon Prime Video is available at Rs 499 a year, which comes up to Rs 50 per month unlike Netflix’s Rs 650 per month subscription, and it’s also cheaper than Hotstar, which charges Rs. 190 per month. In addition to the Video app, you are also getting free one-day delivery for a year.
